The Floresta Group of companies was established in 2010 by private investors to design, finance and develop two of the world’s largest forest carbon programmes – one in Indonesia and the other in Brazil. Our objective is to demonstrate that private sector investment can improve local livelihoods, conserve forest environmental services, and achieve attractive returns through an integrated approach linking commercial forestry, biomass energy, improved agriculture and carbon credits and offsets.

Floresta would like to thank our supporters for their votes in WWF’s Tropical Forest Challenge 2012 and offer congratulations to the winners. We are proud to have been chosen as one of four finalists in our category from amongst 306 nominated ideas, start-ups and established companies.

We would also like to thank WWF, Ennovent, other applicants, nominators, jury members, expert advisors and partner organisations for their contributions to this competition, as well as their ongoing efforts to show how private enterprise can help solve the world’s most important social and environmental challenges.
